SKILLED IMMIGRANTS

Canada welcomes educated and trained immigrants who can support the attainment of economic goals established by the Government of Canada. Applicants are selected as a member of the economic class on the basis of their ability to become economically established in Canada. Your level of education, work experience, age, language proficiency, and profession are all considered in making this determination. If you are married, your spouse’s level of education and language proficiency can also reinforce your application. You are also required to have enough money to settle in Canada after your arrival.

Experienced Tradespeople, Manual Workers and Technicians (Federal Skilled Trades)

Experienced tradespeople, manual workers and technicians can apply for immigration to Canada under the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC). You can qualify for immigration under this category if you are an experienced industrial technician, electrician, construction worker, equipment operator, mining technician, gas and petroleum technician, agriculture technician, chef, cook, butcher or baker. Canadian Work Experience (CEC)

If you have legally worked in Canada on a skilled job for 1,560 hours in the last three years, you can apply to become permanent resident of Canada under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)

Canada provincial nomination is an attractive option for qualified professionals and experienced tradespeople willing to immigrate to Canada. Provincial governments encourage and select immigrants who are most likely to settle permanent in the province and contribute to their economic activity. This approach helps provinces meet their self-identified needs in a more focused manner. Most Provincial Nominee Programs have significantly shorter processing times as compared to the federal programs. In contrast to the federal programs, PNP officers deal with inquiries and applications in with a much more personalized element. Provincial nominee application can be based on a job-offer from a company in the province, your intention to start or acquire a business in the province, or your desire to settle in the province after graduating from a college or university in the province.

All provincial business immigration programs have different investment and personal net worth requirements. They also have various similar features. In order to apply, you must submit a business plan and third-party verification of your net worth. The business must be able to generate sufficient income in Canada for you and your family. The business must also have the potential to create jobs and significant economic benefit to the province. The evaluation system prioritizes applicants who have higher net worth and larger intended investment. An interview is almost always mandatory. All provincial programs require at least 1/3rd ownership of the business. If you are selected, you will be issued a work permit which will allow you to start business activity in the province. You will also be required to sign a Business Performance Agreement with the province. The agreement will outline what is required from you in order to be nominated for permanent residence. Before you are approved for nomination, you must demonstrate that you have been actively managing the business from a place of business in that province.
